If a batchmate starts a business and is even moderately successful, these jealous greedy batchmates will want a stake in the business, they think it is their birthright to demand a stake.
It does not matter that no one was interested in helping the business owner when she started the business a decade ago. When she has spent huge amounts of money, many years of her life struggling alone, without any help, to develop proprietory technology, is an expert in her field, these evil greedy classmates, will demand a stake in the business. If she refuses to give a stake to their puppet who has no relevant experience, is lazy, arrogant, backstabbing, these jealous batchmates will ensure that no one in the batch gives her references. It is a very cheap blackmail tactic to bully a person into accepting a humiliating agreement.
Does she demand a part of their astronomical salaries or their great powers? No. Does she demand a stake in the posh house, expensive cars, and other valuable assets these batchmates own? No ! These greedy men will remark “how can she demand a stake, it is our hard earned money”
